After their first date, she was convinced that they are meant to be together and so she followed him cross country, while Steve is covering different news reports.


Mary Horowitz, is a girl that has a different take on life. She sees it as a crossword puzzle. Her pursuit for the man that she believes should be with her, led her to deal with different situations and meet other people. These people accepted her for who she is and did not judge her for what she does or how she acts.

Here are some of my favorite quotes in the movie.

  • Less work, more of everything else – Mary’s boss
  • I was sitting at home thinking that I got everything I needed right there and then I thought, maybe there’s more. Maybe this is the road I’m supposed to be on.
  • Words. There are meaningful words. There are pointless words and then there are words that hurt.
  • I wear them (her red boots) because they make me feel like my toes are ten friends on a camping trip.
  • We have a natural compulsion to fill empty spaces, I’d like to think he means not just crosswords but the empty spaces that come from making your way in a world that doesn’t always embrace unique.
  • If you love someone, set him free. If you have to stalk him, he probably isn’t yours in the first place.
