Wanna get your coffee shop- signatured planner?

Christmas is almost here! For the coffee lovers (and for those pretending to love coffee, but actually just like to use the free wi-fi in different coffee shops) this means that planner season is here again.

Soon, coffee shops would release their annual Christmas promo: A free planner for every X coffee you buy. Free? Sure. It’s not like you won’t increase your caffeine intake just to get the free planner first.

Some years ago, I used to be one of these people who’d go to my favorite coffee shop more often than I used to just so I could complete that booklet of stamps/ stickers and get a free planner. Later on I thought, what the heck am I doing trying to get a planner which eventually, everyone would have? I mean, how is it cool to walk around carrying your hard-earned planner and see 10 people walk by you with the same thing in hand? No, not cool at all.  After 3 months or so, you’d be leaving your planner on your table for 3 reasons :

  1. It’s too heavy to carry.
  2. The space for writing is not enough for everything you need to be taking notes of.
  3. The pages are so nice you don’t even want to write on them.

Before even deciding to get into the fad, think a bit more. How is a planner coming from your favorite coffee shop different from any other planners? Quit deluding yourself that it’s free. It’s not. Add up all those grande’s and venti’s and you could buy a few very good planners for the same amount. You only need one planner right? If you’re after style and creativity, there are a lot of planners in the market that are way more creative (and functional) than those from a coffee shop.

Now, I don’t understand the fuss about these planners anymore. Why would you drown yourself with coffee just to get one when you could easily buy a planner from your favorite book shop?

Buzz it!
