2 weeks after the storms have passed and wrecked havoc in the Philippines, Filipinos have yet to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. Ondoy and Pepeng may have claimed lives and washed out many dreams, but Filipinos, with their resilience and courage are sure to get through this devastating state.

The calamity that happened in Manila and Northern Luzon tested the country’s strength. They say that the worse disasters bring out the best in people. Filipinos proved how true this is. Political and social differences, competitions and personal agenda were taken aside to help those in great need. We’ve proven once again, that despite our frequent battering with each other, we can work as one nation for our own people.

Picking up the pieces will take time. Rehabilitation of infrastructures may exhaust the government’s fund. Donations and volunteers may dwindle after a few months, but Filipinos with the help of each other, will be able to get pass this tragedy.
