On Chiz Escudero
Senator Escudero has yet to make his announcement on his candidacy. What makes him any different from all the other presidentiables? Let’s have a look on Escudero’s profile.
Born on October 10, 1969, Chiz Escudero is the youngest among all presidential candidates. He started his political career when he was only 28 years old as the Representative of the 1st district of Sorsogon, where he served 3 terms. He became senator on 2007 coming in second to Legarda on candidates who got the most votes.
Chiz has a heart for the Filipino youth. This is why most young voters support him. His focus is on education, jobs and economy. Like most opposition candidates, Escudero wants change for the Filipinos.
Escudero has 6 platforms: [Read full text here]
- Jobs and equal opportunities for all Filipinos through micro-finance, training and entrepreneurship.
- Education for the Filipino youth. Escudero wishes to open the doors of state universities to the poor and provide adequate budget for education.
- Priority for the elderlies, especially their needs for proper health care.
- Human rights and equality for all.
- Environmental awareness and stewardship.
- Protect and serve the Filipino people through proper legislation and regulation of laws and respect for the constitution.
Throughout his term, Escudero has voiced out and pursued what he thinks are right. He doesn’t claim to be pro-poor or pretend to come from a poor family. He doesn’t use his family to gain supporters. Also, he’s pro RH Bill. I think the ability to understand the urgency for such bill is something we should all consider. He doesn’t mind losing the church’s votes. He has the courage to stand up for the things he believes in.
Some say he is a young trapo. Maybe in some aspects he is, but he has shown us what he is capable of. In doing that, we’ve also seen the things that he can’t do or has not yet done. There’s always a negative integer for every positive one.
If this young trapo has the abilities and courage to lead and create change, I wouldn’t mind seeing another trapo in the Palace.

Too bad, he withdrew his candidacy. I would’ve voted for him, but he’s sure to lose to Sen. Noynoy Aquino bec. of the polls.

He hasn’t really decided on that yet. Right now, All he said was that he’s leaving NPC, but with how things look, I’m betting he wouldn’t push through with his presidential bid.
